What is L.E.A.N. Essentials?
L.E.A.N. Essentials is a class based on the L.E.A.N. Start program material. It was designed for parents with children ages 3-12. This is an introductory class for parents who are unable to commit to a 6 week nutrition couse or are uncertain about the concept of nutrition.
HEALTHY snacks will be provided (and recipes given) during class.
What is L.E.A.N. Essentials?
A L.E.A.N. essentials class is a one time class and is designed to take nomore then 2 hours. You will be lead through a fast paced and highly interactive session using the L.E.A.N. Essentialsbooklet as your guide.
Dr. Sears’ L.E.A.N. Essentials is a fun, interactive and educational workshop for parents and caregivers who have limited time or may want to initially take small steps towards learning more about nutrition and healthy living for their children and families. The program focuses on the four pillars of health:
- Lifestyle: How we live
- Exercise: How we move
- Attitude: How we think
- Nutrition: How we eat
Parents and caregivers are provided the basic framework to begin moving towards healthier choices and behaviors in one short course taught exclusively by a Certified L.E.A.N. Coach. Participants learn through direct instruction, group participation and by “filling in the blanks” of their L.E.A.N. Essentials workbook. Subjects discussed include:
- Why should I care about what my children eat?
- Traffic Light Eating
- Why Breakfast is Important
- The Skinny on Fat
- How Much Protein is Enough?
- Play Helps Kids Grow!
- Water can be cool!
- Know the NO’s
- Myth Busters
Participants soon find out that healthy eating can taste great and inside their L.E.A.N. Essentials workbook they will find some healthy and delicious recipes like:
- Y.E.A.H. Crepes!! (Yummy, Easy and Healthy)
- Jam Dots
- Sweet Potato Fries
- Homemade Tortilla Chips
- Fun Fruit Dip
